Upon receipt of the candidate's completed application, review and approval by GTI, an acceptance letter will be issued to the candidate through e-mail address provided or e-fax as may be provided. The acceptance letter will be accompanied by a tuition invoice, and all the pre-arrival information, including information about hotel bookings.

GTI strongly encourages candidates to apply as early as possible in order to meet the embassy’s requirements and allow enough time for application processing.

NOTICE: GTI reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course if the number of candidates is insufficient. The GTI will notify each registered candidate of the cancellation in sufficient time prior to the starting date of the course. In the event that GTI cancels the course, GTI will refund any monies paid towards tuition but will not be responsible for any of the costs associated with preparation for your trip (For example, visas, plane tickets, etc.).

TUITION FEE POLICY

Tuition fee for each course is printed on the application form and also posted on Training Page. The fee, payable in U.S. dollars, includes course instruction, books and reference materials, study visits, field trips, and GTI-organized social events. Tuition DOES NOT include the cost of airfare, hotel, meals and incidentals. Each participant's organization or nominating agency should allocate an appropriate per diem amount to cover those expenses.

Submission of an application form does not guarantee participation, as the space available for courses is limited. A USD $1,000 advance deposit per participant must be made at least ten business days prior to the start of the course to guarantee participation. The deposit is refundable up to five business days before the course should the candidate decide to cancel their trip; after that time, deposits will not be refunded (whether or not the candidate attends the course), BUT may be applied to that person's tuition for a future course. In case of a course cancellation by GTI, all paid deposits will be refunded or, per candidate's request, applied to a future course.

The remainder of the tuition is payable to GTI on or before the first day of classes and can be made via wire transfer, company check drawn on a U.S. bank, traveler's checks, money order or cash. The GTI does not at the moment accept credit cards for tuition payments.

PAYMENT

GTI accepts payment via cash, cashier’s check, wire transfer and money orders. The use of credit cards as method of payment is currently not acceptable at the institution. Note however that credit cards may be used in the reservation and payment of the hotels.

FOR THOSE WISHING TO PAY VIA CREDIT CARD OR DEBIT CARD FOR HOTEL FEES UPON YOUR ARRIVAL, PLEASE BE ADVISED OF THE FOLLOWING:

  1. Credit and Debit cards have been enhanced with fraud prevention systems which make international transactions sometimes difficult or impossible.
  2. Please alert your credit card or debit card provider, PRIOR to coming to the U.S., that you will be coming to the US and will be using your credit/debit card. Provide them the exact dates of your stay in the U.S.
  3. Advise your bank of the approximate amount the transactions you will be funding, especially the amount of cost for the hotel fees.

These steps will help you to avoid any payment problems once you arrive in the USA. The banks have put these enhanced fraud protections in place for your benefit. However, take note that it may take up to one week to modify your security so that you can use your card properly once you arrive.

VISAS

Candidates who need a visa to travel to the U.S. must apply with the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in their respective country and, in many cases, appear for an interview.

Note that obtaining a U.S. visa could take from a few days to a few weeks; therefore, candidates should request approval from their employers and apply for U.S. visas at least six weeks prior to the start of the course to have sufficient time to secure all necessary documents for their trip to New Jersey. The admission letters sent to each accepted candidate should suffice to establish the need for a U.S. visa.
